Paul Stewart Obituary
He was born in Rowletts to Irving and Gladys Whitlow Stewart. He retired from the Army after 21 years of service, then became a deputy jailer at the Hardin County Detention Center as well as opening Cheezie's Cafe in Sonora. Cheezie loved helping other people and was a long-time member of Sonora Baptist Church. He was a staple in the Sonora community serving on the city council for several years and will be sorely missed by his family and the many friends he had.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Debra Perry.
He is survived by his loving wife, Milin Stewart of Sonora; son, Teddy Stewart of Elizabethtown; daughter, Tammy Phillips of New Albany, Indiana; one grandchild, Stephen Xavier Sweat; and several nieces and nephews including Tonya Crawford and Johnathan O'Neal Whitlow.
The funeral is at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Manakee Funeral Home in Sonora with the Rev. William McCann officiating. Burial follows in the Sonora Cemetery.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Manakee Funeral Home in Sonora.
