Paul A. Unruh 57 of Carrington, North Dakota, passed away on August 18th, 2025. He was born October 1st, 1967, in Carrington. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Bernice Unruh. He is survived by his brother Mark Unruh, his wife Heather Unruh, along with Bailey Anstadt, Hanna Anstadt, Mya Johnson, and Tessa Johnson- Each whom he loved deeply. His presence in their lives was a gift filled with wisdom, adventure, and lots of laughter.

Paul lived in many places, but he found his permanent home in Hillsboro, North Dakota. A true outdoorsman, Paul found peace in hunting, riding horses, and keeping busy with different tasks around the farm. Horses weren't just a hobby for Paul - they were a way of life. He took immense pride in teaching others how to ride and care for them, which is how he was introduced to his wife Heather. Paul was trying to sell his horse, Honey, to Heather and once he first glanced at her he knew she was the one but he didn't know in the future he was keeping the same horse, getting a wife, and getting 4 amazing children. He took pride in his family. Paul always spoke high and mighty about his children, he would show pictures to everyone at work and tell people how wonderful they were succeeding in life. Paul was always so eager to teach everyone in the household new things, he was a great leader. He loved comedy movies such as Blazing Saddles, Slap Shot, and Smokey and the Bandit. He loved sharing and listening to music from some of his favorite artists, including Chris LeDoux, KISS, 50 Cent, Keith Whitley, Poison, and George Strait, just to name a few. He had a big love for life's thrills - especially casinos and Vegas. Anytime someone mentioned Vegas, he'd light up and say. “You need to experience it at least once in your life." He'd get so excited just talking about it that his legs would start bouncing with anticipation. Paul definitely knew how to have a good time and made sure everyone around him did too.

Paul will be deeply missed by his family, friends, his dog "Scraps”, and all those lives he touched. He danced like no one was watching, laughed like he invented it, and lived life full throttle. His memory will live on in the stories we tell, the rides we take, and the laughs we share.

A celebration of life will be held at his home, on the farm (16576 2nd St SE Hillsboro, ND, 58045) August 30th, 2025 at 3 p.m.

Rest easy Paul, may your trail ride be smooth and your aim steady.
