Paul John Wieckowski

Paul John Wieckowski, 81 of Philadelphia passed away on November 17, 2020. Beloved husband of Theresa A. Wieckowski (Nee Stuhl). Loving father of Tracy Purshock (John), Paula Curry (Michael) and Christina Asman (Tommy). Pop of Cassandra Purshock, Brendan Curry, Tommy Costello, Veronica Asman, Nicholas Purshock, Taylor Purshock and Paul Asman, Proud Pop to his extended grandchildren, Megan, Kayla, Gabbie, JohnPaul, AJ, Nolan, Owen, Dylan, many nieces and nephews and all the ones Pop held close to his heart. Dear brother of John L. Wieckowski (Anne McGinley) and the late Elizabeth Horwitz, dear brother-in-law to Anne Stuhl, Al and Barbara Stuhl and Tom and Pam Stuhl Paul's formative years were spent in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia, where he attended St. Laurentius Catholic School until 4th grade. He then moved on to Our Lady of Grace Orphanage in Ogletown, Delaware. When he was not attending St. Hedwig's School, he was working on the orphanage's farm. He then went to Salesianum School and ultimately graduated from North Catholic High School in 1957. Paul joined the Army in August 1958 and remained serving his country until August 1961. During his time in the Army, Paul became a United States Paratrooper, 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles). Paul met Theresa in 1962, they married in 1964 and were happily married for 56 plus years. Paul enjoyed playing softball, bowling, hitting a decent round of golf (or so he thought), playing cards and an occasional trip to the casino. He never missed playing a daily number or watching an episode of Jeopardy. Paul was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a past Grand Knight. He was also a member of the American Legion. Paul worked 27 years at SPS Technologies and retired in October 2002. He then enjoyed picking his grandchildren up from school and spending time playing games with them outside. Paul was also delighted to help around the house with simple chores and always excited to fix anything broken in the house ~ not. Paul worked hard his entire life, giving what he could to those who needed it. His positive influence will shine on in his children and grandchildren. Paul's physical strength may have slowed down, but his mind was sharp, his love was fierce, and in his own quiet way, he was larger than life.
