Our mom, Paula Melian Nasco, was born on 8/10/1949 in a little pueblo in Cuba called Manicaragua. Her father was Juan Melian and her mother Blanca Cruz Rodriguez Deborah. Her father divorced her mom when she was very young, and at the age of 5, her mother remarried. Our mom was then raised by who she called her father and we all called our grandfather, Alberto Delgado. In 1967, they migrated to the United States. Shortly after, she met our father, Raul Nasco. She married him in July of 1968 and started a family soon after. Janet was born on 6/5/69, then Jackie on 1/24/72, and lastly little Osmayda (AKA Titi) on 4/5/75. Their marriage lasted 24 years. She was completely and totally devoted to raising her 3 girls. She began working at our elementary school, where she worked 30+ years as every student's favorite cafeteria lady. We were blessed to have her as a mother and later as the grandmother of her 3 grandchildren- Celeste was born on 6/6/95, Sophia was born on 6/18/97, and Samuel was born on 9/12/08. She loved her husband Oscar Roque that she met 3 years after divorcing our father. Mom (known by her grandchildren as "Yeye") and Oscar were very involved grandparents. They were known by all the teachers and students at Dade Christian School. They would sit in the bleachers or on the soccer field with a beach umbrella and cooler (filled with powdered donuts, KitKats, Gatorade, and soda) to watch all the grandkids at their sport practices.

Our mother was always a happy and jolly woman, in a great mood and dressed in loud, colorful clothing. Mom loved to have us over at least once a week for dinner. She was a great cook- her specialty was "ropa vieja." She loved her dog Toby, to whom she gave chicharrones as treats. Mom enjoyed traveling with the family, whether it be to Disney, cruises, Dominican Republic, or graduations. She was always described as an amazing friend, the life of the party, and as a funny lady full of energy. She loved going out to dinner at Cancun Grill to listen to the mariachis sing while drinking a margarita. That's how we all remember her. She always had a big smile and her doors were always open for family and friends. Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease at the early age of 67. Though at times we felt like we were losing her a little more each day, she never stopped giving us kisses or holding our hands as a way to remind us of the love she had for each of us. We lost her on 11/26/25 at 6:36 pm. She leaves behind her legacy of being an amazing mother, grandmother, wife, and friend.
