Pauline Gambacorto Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Torbert Funeral Chapels on Feb. 5, 2026.
Sister Pauline Gambacorto was born on July 6, 1935, in Long Branch, New Jersey.

She entered the Religious Teachers of St. Lucy Filippini in Morristown, New Jersey, in 1949. She received her habit in 1951 and made her final profession in 1952. Sister Pauline taught in many schools throughout New Jersey and New York. She touched many lives as a teacher and musician. She taught piano and voice. Her voice was captivating; she frequently led songs at Mass. Sister Pauline served her community for 29 years. She left the community in 1978 and joined the Society of Sisters for the Church of Paterson, New Jersey, in 1986.

She is survived by her brother, Dominic, and his wife Janet Gambacorto, of Red Bank, New Jersey; her sister, Joann (Keith, deceased) Richardson, of Maryland; and many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces.

She was predeceased in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary (née Clemente) Gambacorto; her brother, Thomas, and his wife (Theresa) Gambacorto; and her sister, Angelina (née Mills).

Pauline was a truly loving and giving servant of Christ, living to serve the 'least among us' with great love. Sister Pauline was always searching for God and ways to serve Him. She was a Sister to all of us. She embraced the present moment and loved knitting and crocheting, donating many newborn caps and blankets to hospitals, churches, and shelters. She was a fantastic artist, creating greeting cards for family and friends. She was skilled in calligraphy, personally addressing each of the 310 wedding invitations for one of her nieces. We will miss her calm presence, kindness, and loving smile. Though our hearts feel heavy, we find comfort in knowing she has moved from a life of service to eternal joy.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at The Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at Mount Saint Mary Academy in Watchung, New Jersey, which will be hosted by her niece, Sister Lisa Gambacorto, RSM.

I had the honor of being a teacher alongside of Pauline at Christ the King in Hillside NJ. We worked together for 16 years. I , as well as her students loved her. Since Sister Pauline was the computer teacher, there were many times when she helped me out.
