Pauline Russell, beloved daughter of Andy and Mildred Shope Patton, peacefully passed away on November 22, 2023, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was born on November 3, 1919, in Buncombe County. Pauline was predeceased by her loving husband, Perry Russell, in 2001, and her daughter Frances Church. She also joins her eight siblings in eternal rest: Cecil, Charles & Jack Patton, Betty Russell, Evelyn Russell, Hilda Rhinehart, Helen Lowe, and Orie Patton. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Shirley Trantham Russell; son-in-law Steve Henson; and daughter-in-law Frances Heatherly Russell.
Throughout her life, Pauline was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star and dedicated herself to serving on the Bethel PTO. Her commitment to these organizations exemplified her selflessness and desire to contribute to the community she held dear.
Pauline will be deeply missed by those who survive her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her daughters Joan Henson and Nancy Henson (Harold), sons Carroll Russell, Hugh Russell (Vicki), and Skipper Russell. She is also mourned by her son-in-law Joe Church and sister Mary Patton. Pauline's memory will be forever cherished by her five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
Pauline enjoyed her time in her flowers, in her kitchen cooking and canning. She loved to spend time shopping in all the stores that brought her joy. In the wintertime she found solace in quilting her favorite patterns for those to love.
A visitation will be held at Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services - Waynesville on November 26th from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at the same location at 2:00 PM. Pauline's final resting place will be Green Hill Cemetery following the services.
During this time of mourning, may we find solace in the memories we shared with Pauline. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, caring mother, and loyal friend. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of those around her, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts. May her soul find eternal peace.
