"Cherishing Every Life with Heartfelt Service"
Pearl McDonald–Forbes, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on March 21, 2026.
Born on December 2, 1944, to Nathaniel and Nellie Gooding in Antigua, West Indies, Pearl Carrolita Gooding, the youngest of 12 siblings, carried the warmth, strength and grace of her Island home throughout her life. Family was her greatest treasure, and she poured her love wholeheartedly into her children and generations beyond.
Pearl was the devoted mother of Dalisay, Amon-re, Nicole and Tishawna. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Amon-re, whom she loved deeply. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren who were the light of her life.
Pearl was widowed from her husband John (Phil) McDonald after 35 years of marriage. In later years, she was blessed to find love again with childhood friend Osmond Forbes, who shared the last 13 years of her life. Together they built a companionship rooted in care, respect, and shared faith.
Pearl dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse in New York, serving with compassion, patience and quiet strength. She received her nursing degree in Toronto Canada and then her Bachelors of nursing at Andrews University in Berrien Springs Michigan. Nursing was not just her profession – it was an extension of her nurturing spirit.
Pearl was the "baby" of the family and had a strong bond with all of her sisters and brother Earl. She was considered "Lucy's baby" due to their close relationship and had a special connection with her sister Ruth who was closest in age. Sister Myrtle was a true big sister, someone Pearl modeled herself after. They all shared laughter, stories of their youth, family memories and stood together through happy times and the trials of life.
Pearl was blessed with an extraordinary talent for music. She was a gifted singer who was often invited to sing at churches and special functions, where her voice brought comfort, inspiration, and delight. Pearl also joyfully played the piano in service to her faith, and could play any song requested by ear. For the last 29 years, she attended Boulevard Seventh Day Adventist Church in
Madison, TN where she was often asked to play for services and provide special music. Her beloved baby grand piano, now residing at the Oak Grove Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kentucky, stands as a lasting symbol of devotion to her music and ministry. Through song and instrument, she uplifted countless hearts.
An avid gardener, Pearl found peace in tending her flowers and watching things grow. In many ways, her life reflected her garden– carefully nurtured, full of beauty, and rooted in love.
Pearl's legacy is one of faith, service, resilience, and unwavering devotion to family. Though she will be deeply missed, her love will continue to bloom in the lives she shaped and in the songs that still echo in our hearts. We will carry that love we have for her in a lifetime of memories we share, in every laugh, and in every quiet moment. Although we miss Pearl deeply, we find comfort in the promise we have, that we will see her again, and be reunited as a family with her in Heaven.
Mom was our beloved matriarch who leaves a legacy of love through her 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren who lovingly call her GG. From her daughter Dalisay, she has 3 grandchildren, Gary, Shelby, and Alivia. Through them there are 5 great grandchildren: Stephen, Gary III, Kingston, Chloe, and Macie. From her son Amon, Mom has 3 Grandchildren, Westley, Makayla, and Toni. The great-grandchildren: Layla, Elijah, Alaiyah, Reign, Brooklyn, and one on the way to be called Heiress. Through her daughter Nicole she has 4 grandchildren, Samsen, Janelle, Renee, and Nikolas. Her great-grandchildren: Princeton, Auran, Yuna, Selah, Seven, and Mateus. From her daughter Tishawna, Mom has 3 grandchildren, Keanna, DaVaughn, and Timiyah. Great-grandchildren: Zinnia, Zalea, and Zakari. Pearl's legacy will continue to bloom and grow through each and every flower in her garden.
Family and Friends will gather on Thursday, April 2nd, to celebrate her life and legacy.
