Peggy Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brookside Funeral Home and Crematory (Yakima) - Moxee on Oct. 1, 2025.
Peggy Imogene Brown was born on August 2, 1942, to her mother and father Von and Sadie Phillips of Wapato, WA. Peggy was raised in Wapato and graduated from Wapato High School in June 1961.
Peggy met the love of her life, Ted Brown on New Years Eve of 1960. They enjoyed roller skating at the roller rink in Yakima and spent as much time together as they could. On September 16, 1961, Ted and Peggy were married and started their life together in Yakima. On June 4, 1964, they welcomed their daughter, LaVon. Outside of being a loving wife and mother, Peggy was a retail associate for Hickory Farms and Buehla's Fuller Fashion. When LaVon was school-aged, Peggy worked for Barge Lincoln Elementary School and later, Davis High School. After Ted retired from the U.S. Postal Service, Peggy accompanied Ted as they traveled around Washington selling U.S. Postal Service uniforms for an additional 22 years.
Peggy was often found at the vintiques showing off her 1940 Chevrolet Coupe, snowmobiling with family and friends, bowling and watching car races from coast to coast and border to border, visiting with friends, gambling at casinos, and shopping.
Peggy's favorite pastime was spending time with her family. In 1987 Peggy became a grandmother; a role she very fondly cherished. When Peggy's daughter and grandchildren were in school, she could be found on the sidelines cheering them on. Peggy never missed a game; rain or shine, inside or outside, she was there.
In 2012 Peggy's heart more than doubled in size when she became a Great Grandmother. Her great grandchildren provided endless laughter and more individuals to adore and spoil. She loved being a grandmother.
On September 26, 2025, Peggy was returned to the Lord in the comfort of her home, holding the hand of her beloved Ted. Peggy was embraced in Heaven by her father and mother, and many family members and friends. Peggy is loved and missed by her husband, Ted, her daughter LaVon (Gary) Lounsbury, grandson Brennan (Lindsy) Lounsbury, granddaughter Breezy (Kurt) Schelhammer, great grandchildren Brantley, Bristol, Bryer and Knox, family and numerous friends.
A celebration of Peggys's life will be held on October 12, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Sun Country Estates Club House located at 3701 Gun Club Rd, Unit 76, in Yakima, WA.
