Peggy Joan Burt, 82, passed away peacefully in her home in Mapleton, Utah, on April 18, 2025. Born on March 29, 1943, in the quiet town of Machias, Maine, she was the daughter of Cora and Ray Reynolds and one of six siblings. She was proceeded in death by her brothers Ray, Lloyd, Linwood, Billy and Edwin. She is survived by her sister Nadine.
She was married to John Kent Burt, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a life filled with love, service, and resilience. Peggy was the proud mother of six children—Randy Stevens, Laurie Gallucci, Jasmine (Penny) Stevens, Jennifer McCann , Jason Leslie and Justin Leslie—and her legacy lives on through her 22 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
Peggy’s life was defined by deep love—for her family, for her neighbors, and for her Savior, Jesus Christ. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Peggy converted to the faith and lived it with strength and grace. Her testimony never wavered, and her faith guided her actions every day.
She found joy in serving and visiting her neighbors, managing the local senior’s gym, cooking and baking for those she loved, and hunting for treasures at yard sales. Her dedication to her community was recognized in 2021 when she was honored as Citizen of the Year. She found peace in her garden and a bit of fun in a good plate of food at Joe Bandidos, her favorite Mexican restaurant.
More than anything, Peggy cherished her family. Watching it grow brought her immeasurable joy, and her children and grandchildren will forever carry her lessons of love, mercy, and faith.
Her life was a testament to quiet strength, faithful service, and boundless love—and she will be missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held in her honor, April 26, 2025 in the Mapleton 26th Ward building 970 N 400 E at 11am. Viewing services will be held Friday April 25th 6-8pm and prior to the funeral service 9:30 to 10:30am.
