Peggy Carter, 74, of Doyline, Louisiana, passed away on April 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 30, 1950, in the small town of Oneida in the state of Tennessee.
Peggy was a devoted wife, sister, mother and granny whose love for her family was evident in everything she did. She cherished simple joys- playing cards and dominoes with sisters and friends, sharing laughter and stories that lingered long after the games ended. Peggy found peace and purpose in the outdoors, whether tending to her yard or diving into her latest home project.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Each day began with her devotions, reading the Bible and the Daily Bread, drawing strength and grace from her quiet moments with God. Peggy had a warm, radiant spirit- always smiling, dancing, or sharing a lighhearted joke. Her kindness was boundless, and she made everyone feel loved and welcomed.
In her later years, Peggy spent time living between the homes of her children, creating memories and embracing the blessing of being surrounded by those she loved. These final years were filled with moments her family will treasure forever.
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Marian Tompkins Ellis; her father, Richard Leon Ellis; her brother, Richard Allen Ellis of Ringgold, Louisiana; her beloved husband, Wayne Wright of Doyline, Louisiana; and her cherished childrens’ father and husband, Wayne Carter of Doyline, Louisiana.
She is survived by her children Daphne Jason and husband Phil of League City, Texas; Erica Herren and her husband Brian of Midland, Texas; and Clinton Carter and wife Ana Carter of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her sisters: Kay Boykin, Andrea Rowell and husband Ricky Rowell, and Nancy Cole of Doyline, Louisiana. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
