Mrs. Peggy Brand Davis, 82, passed away on September 28, 2025, at Waverly Care Home in West Point. Peggy was born on May 19, 1943, in McCondy, to the late Shelton and Mildred Brand. Peggy graduated from Houston High School in 1960. She had fond memories of her high school years and could name many members of her class years after graduating.

A few years after high school, Peggy met her future husband, Grady Davis and they were married on June 9, 1961. They made Clay County and West Point their home and together they shared 64 loving years.

In 1973, she earned a Degree in Education from Mississippi State University. Being a professional educator, she had a passion for teaching and cared lovingly for all of her students, no matter where they were on the grade scale.

Strong in her faith, Peggy was a devout Christian. She loved living only a stone's throw from First Baptist Church in West Point where she was an active member and taught Bible Study for many years.

Peggy's favorite delights of life were her family, Bible Study, quilting, teaching, being with friends, and spending time at the family farm retreat - Cloud 9. She enjoyed traveling and took many trips across the United States including her beloved Tennessee mountains. She also loved visiting foreign countries including Ireland, Italy, Greece, and the United Kingdom.

Peggy was blessed by the unwavering support of all of her friends at Waverly Care Home and her hospice team. She was especially grateful to all of her friends and family who routinely came by for visits, laughs, and just reminiscing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Davis, one sister, Martha Williams, and two brothers, John and Bert Brand.

Visitation will be Friday, October 3, 2025, from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Glen Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery in Montpelier. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Grady Davis of West Point: one daughter, Amy Davis Sonnier (Gerard) of Bay St. Louis: one son, Chris Davis (Sharon) of Hattiesburg: daughter-in-law, Loris Davis of Jackson: seven grandchildren, Aubrey Phillips (Sarah) of Pensacola, Florida, Mark Davis of Columbia, South Carolina, Layne Davis of Hattiesburg, Parker Davis of Jackson, Steele Davis of Jackson, Ollie Davis of Jackson, and Sunny Davis of Jackson, and one sister-in-law, Neta Brand of McCondy.

Pallbearers will be Chris Davis, Mark Davis, Aubrey Phillips, Brad Davis, Parker Davis, Steele Davis, Victor Suggs, and Shane Scott

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Nurses and Staff of Waverly Care Home and Gentiva Hospice and her many friends at First Baptist Church in West Point.
