Peggy Dyer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, Inc. - Clinton on Aug. 27, 2025.
With deepest sorrow, but in celebration of a life lived with unwavering faith and abundant love, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Peggy Dyer, who died peacefully at home on August 26, 2025. She was born on March 12, 1956, in Pittsburg, PA, but grew up in Oak Ridge, TN and currently lived in Knoxville, TN. She enjoyed a career at Y-12, doing a job she loved, and was a dedicated employee who took extreme pride in her work. Peggy received many honors and significant achievements during her professional career, but what she was most proud of was her family and being the best Momma and Grammie.

She found great joy and strength in her relationship with God and dedicated her life to His service and to her family. She was Born Again through Jesus and is now in Heaven where no pain or sorrow exists. Her strong faith and deep love for Jesus was a blessing that she shared through her care giving and helping of others, always putting everyone first, ahead of herself. Her kind and loving nature was showered on everyone who knew her. Empathy was one of Peggy's greatest gifts as well as the funniest sense of humor. She could tell a story and have you laughing with joy. She loved all animals, especially her cats, Sammie and Purrscilla, also taking care of any feral cats that would visit. Peggy will be remembered for her sweet demeanor, contagious smile, joyful spirit and her deep devotion to her family and faith, which guided her every step and inspired all who knew her. She lived a life of nurturing, unconditional love with no bounds.

She is survived by her children, Adam Dyer (Melissa), Heather Metcalf (Matt), and the most special part of her life, her grandchildren Nella Dyer, Lily Dyer, Carter Metcalf, and Porter Metcalf, who loved their Grammie. Peggy is also survived by her mother and stepfather, Joanne and Volker Oberacker, two sisters, Karen Hatmaker and Allison Perritt, niece Krysten Freeland and nephews Brennan Jones, Jason Jones, and Dane Linkous, cats Sammie and Purrscilla, including special neighbors, David and Angela Farmer and Shirl Bennett.

She was predeceased by stepfather, Lewis Nelson.

Receiving of Friends will be from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton, TN.
