Peggy Ford

SMETHPORT - Peggy L. Ford, 77, of Smethport passed away Wednesday (Dec. 10, 2025) at Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Jan. 21, 1948, in Salamanca, N.Y., the daughter of Stewart Goodwill and Rena Mattison Goodwill-Baney. On Feb. 27, 1971, at United Methodist Church of Smethport, she married Truman H. Ford, who survives.
Peggy was a graduate of Smethport Area High School, Class of 1967. She was a homemaker, tending to the needs of her family. She also was a longtime babysitter for many families over the years.
She was a member of Regular Baptist Church of Smethport. Peggy was known to be a "homebody" and enjoyed just spending time with her family at home. She loved watching soap operas, reading books and watching game shows.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Peggy L. (Tim) Crumrine of Lewis Run; two sons, Steven K. (JoAnn) Ford of Illinois and Joseph H. (Maria Corazon) Ford of Anchorage, Alaska; six grandchildren, Kyle (Filane) Crumrine, Taylor Ford, Joseph Benjamin (Clariza) Ford, Ashley (Michael) Lipps, Cheyenne Ford and Savannah Ford; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and longtime friend Carlyn Seighman.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by a grandson, John Christian Ford; two brothers, Darrell Dean Goodwill and William E. Goodwill; and recently, her cat Holly Sue.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday (Dec. 15, 2025) at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes Inc., 2 Bank St., and again from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday (Dec. 16, 2025) at the funeral home, where funeral services will immediately follow with the Rev. Jack Gregg, pastor of Regular Baptist Church of Smethport, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Bradford Hospital Oncology Department or Regular Baptist Church of Smethport.
