September 14, 1957–November 8, 2025
Peggy Ann Kuss, 68, of West Bend, passed away unexpectedly on November 8 at Froedtert Hospital due to post-surgical complications. She was born on September 14, 1957, in Jefferson, Wisconsin, to Bernard and Alice (Hardy) Maney.
A 1976 graduate of West Bend East High School, Peggy went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in 1990 and later became a Certified Public Accountant. While attending college, she worked at Weiland’s and Millie’s Spaghetti Factory. Peggy built a long and respected career in accounting, holding positions at Smith & Nephew Rolyan and Badger Meter. Her strong work ethic and sense of responsibility were shaped during her early years on the family farm.
In May 1987, Peggy married her best friend and lifelong companion, Terry Kuss, son of Carl and Ida Kuss. Together they shared a life filled with love and support.
Peggy found joy in life’s simple pleasures, home-cooked meals, baking, gardening, and birdwatching. She especially loved caring for her many pet rabbits and Pomeranians. An active community member, she participated in 4-H and the Llama Project and supported the Washington County Humane Society and the Museum of Wisconsin Art. Among her greatest joys was spending time with her granddaughter, Elsa, and taking part in her many activities.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Maney, and brother, Patrick Maney. She is survived by her beloved husband, Terry; daughters Angela (Adam) Ridgely and Elizabeth Kuss (James Norman); granddaughter Elsa Norman and another granddaughter (Ridgely), soon to join the family in February; mother Alice Maney; and siblings Andy Maney, Terri Maney, Mike (Kim) Maney, Mary Jo Maney, Jenny (Scott) Richards, Peter Maney, Marj (Maney) Hall, and Jon Maney. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Washington County Humane Society are appreciated.
Burial will take place at Washington County Memorial Cemetery (3358 Paradise Dr, West Bend, WI 53095) at noon on May 16, 2026, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00pm at the West Bend Moose Lodge (1721 Chestnut St). Family and friends are invited to attend.
