Mrs. Peggy H. Langley, widow of Ellis Ernest Langley, of Union, passed away at Union Assisted Living, Union, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Mrs. Langley was born in Union, September 21, 1930, a daughter of the late Lewis Calvin Harmon and Sydney B. Harmon. She was a 1947 graduate of Union High School. Mrs. Langley retired from the Union County School District as a math aide; often referred to as one of the "timed test ladies." Mrs. Langley was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church as long as her health permitted. She was a former member of the Clyburn-Whitener Sunday School Class, the altar guild, the Circle of Hope Ladies Circle, "the Rockers," Union County Arts Council, Union County Historical Society, and Delta Kappa Gamma Education Society.
Mrs. Langley, affectionately known as "Mimi" by many was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her children, Donna (Tommy) Anthony, Dennis (Cindy) Langley, and David (Mary Beth) Langley. Her grandchildren, Stephanie (Andy) Nelson, Ty (Amanda) Anthony, Katie (Garrett) Cash, Michael (Ashley) Langley, Christopher (Brianna) Langley, Matthew (Kathleen) Langley, and Sydney Langley. Her great-grandchildren: Cameron (Leilani) Nelson, Caden (Julia) Nelson, Austin and Ava Anthony, Annabelle and Sterling Langley, James and Thomas Cash. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Ann L. Rollins and Erma Lee L. (Dan) Hunt, special nephew, Butch Dill, niece and nephew, Cille and Robert Cody, and other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Langley was predeceased by sisters: Leila Bassin, Margaret Dill, and Linda Greer, and brothers Chan and Gene Harmon, John and Mary Bailey Arthur.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Grace United Methodist Church, Union, conducted by Rev. Lee Phillips. Burial will be at Union Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, March 27th from 6:00-8:00 pm. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are: James and Jay Coffer, and her caregivers from Union Assisted Living and Crescent Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Grace United Methodist Church, 201 South Church Street, Union, SC 29379, Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 951 Union, SC 29379, or to a charity of one's choice.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to her caregivers at Union Assisted Living for her care during her stay there and Crescent Hospice.
