Peggy Lynn Gordon McCue, age 75, of Cleburne, TX, passed from this earthly life on October 18, 2024 after a brave battle with cancer.
Peggy was born in Abilene, TX to Woodrow Columbus Gordon and Allie Jean Stanford Gordon on March 10, 1949. She grew up in Baird along with her older brother, Max and younger brother, Woody. During her high school years she was very active in athletics, including basketball and tennis. In 1964, she was a member of the girls' basketball team that won the Class A State Championship. In her spare time, she was a cheerleader and played in the band. In her Senior year she was voted as Best All-Around girl. Growing up, she loved family reunions and her cousins, who she stayed close to throughout the years.
After high school, Peggy attended and graduated from Lubbock Christian College. After college she lived many places where she worked as an insurance agent. Every place she lived, she made many friends, as her smile and spirit were infectious, and her love for others, whether family or friends, was obvious. Her love for her two sons, Towarand Stuart, was always unconditional and ever present. Peggy enjoyed entertaining andlooked for opportunities to bring people together. That continued even after she became ill and many visitors came often to see her and share their stories and memories. She deeply loved the Lord and immersed herself in the church community everywhere she lived.
Peggy's parents and her husband, Don McCue, preceded her in death. She is survived by siblings, Max Gordon (Nancy), and Woody Gordon (Linda); sons Towar Bell (Sherry) and Stuart Bell; stepsons, Jerry McCue (Melissa), and Barry McCue; stepdaughter, Tracy Revland (Jeff); nieces, Nickie Burleson (Brian), Karen McWilliams (Matthew), Sarie Jones (Eric), and nephew, Zach Gordon; grandchildren, Austin, Layne, Dylan, Kaitlyn, Abbigayle McNabb, Jay, Daniel, Allison, Kristen, Tanner, Maddison, Caleb, Caitlyn, Nicholas, and Raelyn; and 11 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Hamby Church of Christ, 197 County Road 504, Abilene, TX 79601.
