Peggy Russell McLaughlin, a beloved mother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, in Columbus, Georgia, at the age of 88. Born on August 31, 1937, in Montgomery, Alabama, Peggy lived a life filled with love, warmth, and a passion for service.
For over twenty years, Peggy served as a dispatcher for the Autauga County Sheriff's Office, where her dedication and commitment did not go unnoticed. Her unwavering service to her community was a testament to her character, combining professionalism with compassion and understanding.
In her personal life, Peggy loved to travel, always eager to explore new places and experience the beauty of the world. She also cherished the time spent with her family and her beloved dogs, creating countless memories and sharing joyful moments that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Jill Payton, and her son, Terry Payton, Jr., who carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. She is predeceased by her husband, Gordon Evans McLaughlin, who she cherished dearly and with whom she shared a deep and abiding love.
