Peggy Ann Shane departed this life on the morning of May 5, 2022. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Thomas James Bradley and Cleo Thurman Bradley.
Peggy graduated from Commerce High School and went on to achieve a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Psychology from Bernard Baruch College of the City University of New York. She was Salutatorian of her graduating class. It was during her student tenure at Baruch that she met Ronald Shane whom she married on November 21, 1976. They relocated to Delaware in 1977 when Ronald s employer offered a promotion.
Peggy achieved a Master s Degree in Human Resources Management from Widener University in Pennsylvania where she subsequently became an adjunct professor. She also earned certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources from the Society of Human Resource Management. Peggy spent many years as a human resource professional most notably with Independence Blue Cross in Philadelphia from which she retired.
It seemed that some of the happiest days of her life were when she and her husband became congregants of The Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew (SsAM). She immediately got involved in several ministries, viz., as secretary to the Episcopal Church Women of SsAM; member of the vestry as Junior Warden; and as chairperson and organizer of a street fair sponsored by SsAM and The Christina Cultural Arts Center. She also enjoyed being a participant in the book club and particularly enjoyed hosting the members. She especially enjoyed hosting family and friends for Thanksgiving dinner and female family members who also celebrated their birthday in January The Birthday Divas .
Peggy enjoyed traveling. She and her sister Carolyn went to London England, Paris France, and Belgium; and with her husband, Ron, to Barbados, Bermuda, Mexico, St. Croix, Alaska, France, Monaco, China, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, and Cuba.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents and is survived by her forever grateful loving husband, Ronald; her devoted sister, Carolyn Bradley; step daughters, Cynthia Etheridge and Lisa (Darrion) Eshmon; step grandchildren, Marlena and Michael Eshmon; great grandson, Anthony McGown III; and cousins, Michael Webb and Gina Spencer.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at The Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew, 719 North Shipley Street, Wilmington, DE 19801. Interment will be held privately.
