Peggy Fowler Spaulding, born on February 14, 1944, in
Loris, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, in Wilmington, North Carolina. She was 81 years old.
Peggy's journey through life was marked by her deep love for family, a passion for gardening, and an unwavering spirit. She had a natural eye for detail and a strong work ethic, qualities she carried into her professional life. Whether working as a clerk at Lowe's Home Improvement or owning a flower shop in Pensacola, Florida, Peggy found joy in plants, flowers, and sharing that love with others. Through her work, she connected with her community in ways that felt personal, meaningful, and true to who she was.
Known for her strong and outspoken nature, Peggy was always a straight shooter who loved to give advice. Her family-oriented spirit shone brightly, and she was a beloved wife, mother, and aunt. Those who knew her remember her as a boss in the best sense-someone who led with strength and compassion.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father, Will D. Fowler; mother, Dessie Zurcher; brothers, Howard Zurcher, Bobbie Fowler, Billy Fowler, and Claud Fowler; and sister, Annie Christian (Fowler).
She is survived by her devoted husband of 41 years, Donald D. Spaulding, her son, George R. Dover, along with several nieces and nephews who also mourn her passing and cherish the memories they shared.
In accordance with Peggy's wishes, her family will hold a private celebration of her life on what would have been her 82nd birthday, February 14, 2026. This intimate gathering will be a time to honor her legacy and the love she brought into their lives.
