Peggy Yvonne Stupka, 78, of Colby, died Sunday August 24, 2025, at Citizens Medical Center.

She was born to Nicholas and Burnice (Freeman) Schroeder in Junction City, KS on September 11, 1946. Peggy graduated from Junction City High School with the class of 1964. She worked for the Junction City Telephone Company during and after high school. After graduating from the Automation Institute in Kansas City, MO, she was employed by the City of Junction City, working in the Business Office.

Peggy met Bud while he was working on the Milford Dam. They were married on March 9, 1968, in Goodland, KS. They moved to Brawley, CA and lived there until May of 1972, when they moved back to Colby to make their home and raise their daughters Lisa and Denise.

Peggy began her employment with Colby Community College in 1972 and worked 29 years there until her retirement in 2001 as a switchboard operator and receptionist. She had many friends over the years that she still kept in touch with from her years there.

Peggy enjoyed sewing, gardening and being with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Bernard.

Peggy is survived by her husband Bud; daughters, Lisa Olson (Nolan Draper) and Denise Stupka-Ohlrogge; grandchildren, Taylor (Christy) Olson, Diahonia (Heath) Olson and Arie Olson; great grandsons, Carter and Cohen Olson; nephew Chris Schroeder; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m., with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby. Funeral Mass is at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2025, also at Sacred Heart Church with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association- Go Red for Women and sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701.
