Peggy Darlene Veley, 84, of Stillwater, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital, following a sudden illness. Born December 16, 1940 in Uhrichsville, Ohio, she was the last surviving child of the late John Joseph and Cora Almira (Frazee) Ringler – having been preceded in death by her siblings, Betty M. Lewis, and Richard, John, Bill, and Charles Ringler.
After her 1958 graduation from Uhrichsville High School, Peggy earned her cosmetology certification. On June 12, 1959, she married William M. Veley which marked the beginning of her long and happy life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. She was a longtime faithful member of Pleasant Grove Church in Stillwater where she was famous for her potato salad which she made for their annual chicken barbeque fundraisers, making up to 175 pounds of it each year. Peggy had been a member of a sewing club for over forty years with many of her friends. She loved going to Tatman’s in Stillwater and especially enjoyed trips to the Wheeling casinos with her friends.
Peggy will be deeply missed by her husband, Bill; daughters, Cathy (husband, Ray, deceased) Vesco, Cindy (companion, Dan Mahon) Householder, and Crystal Veley-Edwards; grandchildren, Jordan (Ashley) Vosick, Molly (Shane) Stine, Megan (Kevin) O’Dell, Kees (Marissa) Edwards, Devin (Jared) Edwards, and Kollin Edwards; great-grandchildren, Ella Gipson, Brantly Vosick, Lexi Stine, Easton Stine, Emery O’Dell, Emmalynn Vosick, Ensley Stine, Adeline Edwards, and Charles Edwards; and many nieces and nephews.
According to Peggy’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation. She will be interred at Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery, and her family will celebrate her life privately. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Pleasant Grove Church, 8534 Edie Hill Rd. S.E., Uhrichsville, OH 44683.
