Margaret Jean Rose Ciambelli Wasinski

Peggy was born June 22, 1984 in Denver Colorado and came home to Bill Wasinski and Mary Ciambelli on July 20, 1984 as our beloved daughter. She was adopted from Catholic Community Services. She died on the evening of July 17, 2020 at the University of Colorado Highlands Ranch hospital in the critical care unit with Mom, Dad, Msgr. Bernie Schmitz, and her care team at her bedside. She was 36 years old at the time of her passing from a brief but devastating illness.

During her lifetime Peggy lived in Aurora and Centennial Colorado. She is survived by her large and heartbroken family who live in Colorado, California, Michigan, Washington, Ohio, and Portugal. Her parents reside in Silverthorne Colorado. Her brother (and her biggest fan) Dave Ciambelli Wasinski, her beloved niece and nephew Sophia and David Lucas and Dave's fiancé Naera Ashby all live in Centennial Colorado. In addition, she is survived by her aunts and uncles Grace (Tony) Ciambelli, Pat and Mike Omans, Paul and Bonnie Wasinski, Steve and Lynn Wasinski, Vicky Wasinski, Marianne Wasinski Chopp, Carl Chopp, Bob and Alec Wasinski, Mike Wasinski and Frank Remiatte. Peggy also leaves behind 16 (and counting) Wasinski cousins and 30 Ciambelli cousins plus their spouses and fiancé's. Her Godmother is Peggy Rehfus Griffin and her Godfathers are Mike Wasinski and his husband Frank. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Frank and Virginia Wasinski and Albert "Red" and Gertrude Ciambelli, her Aunt Cathy Ciambelli Rehfus, Uncle Bob Rehfus and Uncle Tony Ciambelli. Despite living over 1300 miles apart Peggy was able to spend long periods of time with many of her aunts, uncles and cousins as well as Papa Frank and Nana Gertrude when Mary was attending her doctoral program in the Detroit area in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Several of Peggy's cousins have shared with her and with Bill and Mary that they feel more like siblings than cousins to her because of sharing many happy memories with her including family reunions and visits to Michigan and California. Peggy also is survived by numerous family friends who have known her since she first came home to Bill and Mary. Our forever friends have been and continue to be a life-giving support to Bill, Mary and Dave during this unimaginable journey.

Peggy graduated from St. Therese Catholic Grade School (Go Vikings) in 1998 and Grandview High School (Go Wolves) in 2002. Peggy started playing sports in the third grade, first basketball and then soccer. She played both of those sports throughout grade school and for her first few years of high school. Peggy was in the first class to attend all 4 years at Grandview and played junior varsity and varsity soccer and junior varsity basketball in high school. After high school she continued to work out, play recreational sports and ran several mud races with friends. She graduated in 2007 from Metropolitan State College (now Metropolitan State University Go Roadrunners) with a bachelor's degree in human services. She worked her way through college at Omaha Steak which helped reimburse her tuition. She worked as an administrative assistant for Adco Insurance (later RPS Insurance) from August 2010 until recently. She is dearly missed by her former co-workers.

Peggy loved to dance from an early age and used to stage impromptu dance parties on our driveway in Aurora with her friends and neighbors using a boom box. As she got older, sports took up more of her time and her dancing became more of a pastime. She loved to watch all kinds of sports but particularly basketball, soccer and American football. She was a life-long fan of the Denver Broncos. We attended the first and second Bronco Super Bowl parades and the Colorado Avalanche Stanley Cup Celebrations as a family with friends and neighbors. Peggy attended the Super Bowl 50 celebration on her own and enjoyed it tremendously. She traveled to Michigan a couple of years ago to see the Broncos play the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. That trip involved time spent with both her Wasinski and Ciambelli families and is a happy memory for all involved.
