Penelope "Penny" Acree Nation, beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on October 2, 2023, at Calhoun Health Care in Calhoun, Georgia. She was born on January 4, 1963, in Gordon County, Georgia, to Marvin Acree and DiAnn Magill Acree.
Penny led a fulfilling life as a devoted homemaker and mother. She poured her heart and soul into creating a warm and loving home for her children. Penny's nurturing spirit was evident in every aspect of her life; she provided unwavering support and care to her loved ones.
Education played an essential role in Penny's life. She graduated from Calhoun High School as part of the Class of 1981. During her time in high school, Penny showcased her creativity and passion for storytelling by actively participating in the yearbook staff. Her dedication to capturing precious memories for others exemplified her selflessness.
Beyond her responsibilities as a homemaker and mother, Penny found solace in writing and poetry. Her love for language allowed her to express herself authentically and touch the hearts of those around her. Through her poignant words, Penny left an indelible mark on the lives she encountered.
Penny's warm presence will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her son, Robert Adam Nation; her loving sisters Patricia "Patty" Acree and Sheri Acree Hudgins; brother-in-law Dell Hudgins; nieces Grace Hudgins and Hope Hudgins—all of whom were cherished by Penny.
In this difficult time of mourning, we find solace in knowing that Penny has been reunited with her parents Marvin Acree and DiAnn Magill Acree and her son Zachary A. Nation. Their lasting love transcends time and fills our hearts with comforting memories.
A graveside service to honor and remember Penny will take place at 11am in Chandler Cemetery on Wednesday, October 4th. With Dr. Bert Vaughn and Rev. Steven Waters officiating. May her soul find eternal peace in the embrace of her final resting place.
The family will receive friends Wednesday October 4th beginning 10am at the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home.
As we bid farewell to our dear Penny, let us remember her as a beacon of love and compassion. Her laughter and gentle spirit will forever resonate within our hearts. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and the irreplaceable bonds forged with those she held dear.
Penny, your vibrant soul has left an indelible mark on this world. May your journey onward be filled with serenity as you watch over us from above. Rest peacefully, dear Penny. You will be cherished always.
