Mrs. Penelope Verbeek Solis

Penelope (Penny) Verbeek Solis born November 18, 1946 in New Orleans, died in her Belle Chasse home on Saturday, August 7, 2010. Loving wife of Thomas Joseph Solis for the past 36 years. Mom of Grant (Lauren) and Paige Solis. Awesome Granny of Zade Solis. Survived by her mom, Laura Newsham Verbeek and sisters, Ellen Rowe and Geraldine “Jerry� Wyllie. Preceded in death by her father, Addison S. Verbeek, also survived by a multitude of brothers and sisters in-law and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Always loved and appreciated her family and many friends. A graduate of LSU in 1968 and former teacher in the St. Bernard, Jefferson and Plaquemines Parish public school systems. Member of the Crescent City Depression Glass Society. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 12 Noon, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be on Friday, August 13, 2010 from 7:00 PM-9:00 PM and on Saturday, August 14, 2010 from 10:00 AM until service time. Special thanks to Heart of Hospice personnel who administered to her in her final months. Interment will be in Metairie Cemetery.
