Penelope Jean Sprague

Appleton - Penny Sprague, 75, went home on October 22, 2025. She was the youngest daughter of Leslie and Arlene (Wegenke) Welson and was born on July 10, 1950 in Seattle, Washington. Penny has been in and out of the hospital and nursing home rehab the last 4 years, but she bravely fought through her health issues to maintain her independence before finally succumbing to them. Always willing to work hard, she never gave up fighting to live her best life.

Penny resided at Jon Fischer Manor, where she was a huge contributor to their bake and craft sales. Over the years Penny enjoyed putting together puzzles, Diamond Dotting, playing games, doing various crafts, and volunteering. Apart from her family, her greatest love was for her cats, Willow (previously deceased) and Mellow.

Penny is survived by and will be missed by her daughters, Cortina Sprague and Jennie Sprague; her grandchildren, Lanai Richardson and Shawn Sprague, and Amber, Samantha, and Randy Marshall; her great-grandchildren, Brian and Daphne Richardson, Morgan and Willow Hinson, Colt, Aaron, and Harper Sprague, Ambriela Sprague, Jade and Mavryk Moore; her sisters, Lin Canto and Sharon Kip; and beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Theodore and Michael Welson, and her husband, Walter “Dee” Sprague. She will be buried with Dee in Maple Valley, WA.
