Penny S. Azbill, 73, of Waterloo, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at UnityPoint Health - Allen Hospital in Waterloo. She was born July 6, 1950, in Waterloo, daughter of Burton and Mary Lichty Turner. Penny earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the University of Northern Iowa. She married Linn E. Azbill on April 28, 1979, in Waterloo; he preceded her in death on March 18, 2014.
Penny served as education coordinator at the Hearst Center For the Arts and served as interim director. She also worked at the Waterloo Center for the Arts. Penny was a member of Evansdale AMVETS Auxiliary and enjoyed gardening, art, pottery and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Penny is survived by four sons, Chad (Kristal Hofer) Wolf of Cedar Rapids, Asa Azbill, Ethan (Brandie) Azbill, and Will (Anne) Azbill, all of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Micah (Katherine), Natasha, Sydney, Brayden, Elijah, Logan, and Zach; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; and one brother, Scott (Linda) Turner of Waterloo.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Linn; son, Charlie, in infancy; and one brother, Tom Turner.
Memorial visitation will take place from 4:00 - 6:00 PM Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Locke on 4th, 1519 W. 4th Street, Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the family
