BREITSTEIN, Penny Renee, 75, of Tampa, passed away on October 26, 2024. Penny was born on February 22, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, to parents Sheldon and Hortense Kiselik. She graduated from The University of Pennsylvania, obtaining a bachelor's degree. Penny met her loving husband of 43 years, Joel M. Breitstein, in Pennsylvania in 1971 and married him a year later on June 4,1972. Penny had several careers she enjoyed over the course of her life, including Occupational Therapist, Event Planner for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and her most recent career as Development Officer for Goucher College. Penny was an avid art collector, orchid enthusiast, and she loved to play mahjong. She had a very strong connection to people who worked for her in various capacities over many years. The Breitstein family would like to thank them all for their support that was provided, particularly during this last year. She also had friends that she met in Tampa and elsewhere that she was very close to. These friendships lasted 30-50 years! Penny had such a magical way of listening deeply and connecting with people at such a high level. She had an especially close and deep connection with her beloved granddaughter, Jordan, and her adoring son, Joshua.
Penny is predeceased by her loving husband, Joel Breitstein. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Melissa Breitstein, cherished granddaughter, Jordan, sister, Lynn Schlossberg, several dear cousins and nieces and nephews.
A service for Penny will take place Tuesday, October 29th, 1pm at Congregation Kol Ami with interment to immediately follow at Gan Shalom Cemetery.
In lieu of memorial contributions, donations may be made to the Joel M. Breitstein Endowment Fund through the Top Jewish Foundation of Tampa in Penny's name.
