In Loving Memory of Penny Lynn Rains Cloud
Born: June 27, 1962
Passed Away: August 29, 2025
Born to Edgar and Betty Rains (both deceased), Penny is survived by her husband, Jerrell "Butch" Cloud; her sons Jerry (Rebekah), Jeffery (Chelsea), and Justin (Lauren); her daughter, Lexie; her special nephew, Chris Petrey; and her mother-in-law, Wilma Dean Cloud. She is also survived by her siblings Charles (Della) Rains, MarySue (David) Petrey, and David Rains. Penny was preceded in death by her sister, Pam (David) Mason; her precious Mammy, Mary Rains; and her father-in-law, Jerrell Cloud.
Penny married the love of her life, Jerrell "Butch" Cloud, on June 18, 1981. Together they raised three "rotten" boys and one "spoiled" girl, who were the center of her world. She was later promoted to her favorite role of all, "Grammie," to eleven "Cloud Kids": Landen, Layla, Addie, Allie, Luke, Ben, Karson, Susannah, Lane, Kaiser, and their angel, Meliyah. Her love for her children and grandchildren was immeasurable, and her family was truly her life's greatest joy. She was also blessed with a host of other relatives, church family and friends to celebrate her life but mourn her passing.
A lifelong member of South Park Baptist Church, Penny dedicated her life to her faith and her community. She gave her time generously to her church family and had a special way of encouraging children and young people, always pointing them toward Christ through her love and example. Her devotion to Jesus shaped her life, and her faith was a source of strength to all who knew her.
Penny also lived out her calling as a nurse at Hillcrest Nursing Home, where her compassion and gentle spirit touched countless lives. She treated her patients with dignity and kindness, leaving behind a legacy of service and care.
Though her time here feels far too short, Penny's memory will forever live on in her family, church, former coworkers, and the many friends she made along the way. While she has gone home to be with her Savior, her spirit of love, faith, and service will remain a guiding presence for all who were blessed to know her.
