Penny Woolley Obituary

Penny Jeane Blakeley Woolley

1947 ~ 2022

Kaysville, Utah—Penny Jeane Blakeley Woolley, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away Friday April 22, 2022 in her home in Kaysville, Utah. She courageously fought ovarian cancer for just under 2 years. She was 75 years of age.

Penny was born May 29, 1947 in Oakland, California, to Fred T. Blakeley and Ruth Alta Barker Blakeley. She grew up in Ogden, Utah, attended Ogden High, and graduated from Weber State University in 1967 with her associate degree in Nursing. She later earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Weber State University in 1994. She was a registered nurse at Primary Children's Medical Center in the Infant Unit for many of her young adult years and later when her children were college age.

Penny married D. Kent Woolley August 18, 1971 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They lived in Salt Lake City, UT, Montrose, CO, Pocatello, ID, Layton, UT and lived the vast majority of their married lives in Kaysville, Utah. They have four children and 15 grandchildren.

Penny had a gift for caring for and nurturing others, especially her family. She was a great cook, loved children's crafts, reading with her kids and grandkids, attending family events, games and performances, going to lunch with Kent and just spending time with loved ones.

Her family also included her cherished dogs, of which she had many over the years. Penny was a great seamstress, fashioning her craft for quilting in her later years at the local quilt shop creating quilts for her grandchildren, children and husband. She enjoyed her time spent with the Utah/Idaho Dog Agility Association and the Utah Animal Adoption Center.

Penny enjoyed family history and was involved with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She loved the outdoors, hiking, gardening, walking her dogs, and spending time at the family cabin. Some of her fondest memories growing up involved time at the cabin. Penny was an avid reader, had a zest for learning, and attended adult religion classes for 25 years.

She was known for her time serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with the Primary children and in the Relief Society. She had a witty sense of humor, exemplified love and compassion, was willing to serve anyone in need and always looked for the good in others.

Penny was preceded in death by her father Fred and her mother Ruth. She is survived by her two brothers Jeff (Shelley) and Bill (Shanna), her husband D. Kent Woolley, her four children Michael (Katrina), Melanie (Jason), Matthew and Marci (Matthew), her 15 wonderful grandchildren and Naomi and Sunnee, her devoted dogs.
