Pera Bodas

Pera (Frydman) Bodas, 90, passed away at home on September 10th, 2022
surrounded by her devoted family. Pera was born in Pastavy, Poland (currently
Belarus) to Moshe and Riva Frydman (Fogel). She is preceded in death by her
parents, her brother Abe and her sisters, Celia and Dorothy. Pera is survived and
will be deeply missed by her husband, Gary, her two daughters and their
husbands, Asia and Paul Winterstein and Masha and Isaac Keren, and her four
grandchildren, Noah, David, Joshua and Sarah. She leaves a legacy of courage
and kindness to her daughters and grandchildren. She is also survived by many
nieces and nephews. Pera was a Holocaust survivor who endured three years in
the woods of Poland with her mother, brother and two sisters. She emigrated
from Poland to Israel and then to the United States in 1962. She went on to
graduate from The Ohio State University with a Masters Degree in Russian
Language and Literature. She taught for a short time at OSU and then joined
Battelle Memorial Institute where she worked for many years on Department of
Defense contracts to review and catalog Russian journals. Pera overcame many
challenges in her life. A special thank you to her dedicated caregiver, Malisia,
who became like family. A graveside funeral service was held at 11 am on
September 12 th, 2022 at the New Agudas Achim Cemetery and was officiated by
Rabbi Stephen Slater and Rabbi Areyah Kaltmann. Donations may be made to
