Percell Owens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by M. W. Hawkes Funeral Home - Amelia on Jan. 16, 2026.
God in His infinite wisdom called His child, Percell Joe Owens from labor to reward on June 17, 2025, at his residence in Amelia, VA. Percell was born on October 4, 1949 to the late Margie & Joseph Owens Sr. Percell was educated in Amelia Public Schools and enlisted in the United States Army in 1975, serving for 6 years in the Army Reserves. He worked for Alleghany Warehouse for many years and later retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation. Although often soft-spoken, his words echoed with volume. He was a no-nonsense man who enjoyed his quiet time and loved driving his vintage Nova. During football season, you would find him watching and cheering on his favorite team, The Washington Redskins. Whenever he did entertain, he was the life of the party and loved to dance. He had a witty sense of humor and always had a story to tell, leaving the conversation with "I'm going to bake you a cake".He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nannie Marie Robinson Owens and his sister Katherine Owens. Percell leaves to cherish his fond precious memories his sons, Percell Jr. (Marilyn), Perry (Tamica), Pernell (Marjorie), Darrell (Shaniell); two daughters, Tosha (Lawon) Shaw and Tiera; nineteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sisters, Brenda (Herbert) Butler, Mary Ann Jenkins, Arlethia (Bruce) McIver: brothers, Joseph (Geraldyne) Owens Jr., Eyser 'Ike' (Joan) Owens, William (Joyce) Owens and Robert (Rosa) Owens; aunts Rev.
