Perry "Wallace" Holley

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Perry "Wallace" Holley, who was called home on August 7, 2024, while casting his net one last time and doing what he loved-fishing.
Born on July 17, 1952, in Wewahitchka, Florida, to Zora Belle Holley and Perry Samuel Holley, Wallace was a man deeply connected to his hometown and the surrounding community.
Wallace proudly served his country in the U.S. Army before returning to his roots in Wewahitchka. His career took him from the Florida State of Corrections to working with Trees Inc. in and around Houston, Texas, but it was the call of the coast that always brought him back home.
An avid fisherman, Wallace was known for his skill with a cast net, particularly in catching mullet and flounder along the shores of Indian Pass, Mexico Beach, and Money Bayou. He found joy in sharing his catches with friends, neighbors, and even strangers, always embodying a spirit of generosity.
In addition to fishing, Wallace spent many years as a dedicated beekeeper, a testament to his hands-on approach to life and his appreciation for hard work. Those who knew Wallace will remember his enthusiasm for the simple pleasures of life, from a well-caught fish to a good conversation by the water.
Wallace is survived by his children, Melinda Burkman (Brandon), Michael Holley (Becca), Joshua Holley (Dana), and David Holley (Pete); his beloved grandchildren, Isabelle Holley and Emma Holley; his brothers, Benjamin Holley, Charles Holley (Mary), and Doug Holley (Debbie); nieces and nephews, Heather Pippin, Nicki Horne, Michael Holley, David Jamerson, Tiffany Sundie, and Benjamin Holley. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, and countless friends who will miss him dearly.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 17th at 2:00 PM CT at Westside Baptist Church in Wewahitchka. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up to help with funeral expenses and to support the creation of an MBARA Memorial Reef in Wallace's honor. Donations can be made to Wallace Holley Trust at Emerald Coast Federal Credit Union in Wewahitchka.
Wallace's legacy will live on in the waters he fished, the stories he told, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness and generosity.
