Perry Lee Knight, age 65, of Mechanicsburg, PA, and formerly of BuenaVista, VA, died on Saturday, September 6, 2025. Perry was born on Sunday, October 11, 1959, in Staunton, VA to Bobbie Lee Knight and Mildred Marie (Lotts) Knight.
Perry’s survivors include his wife of 43 years, Lynn M. Knight of Mechanicsburg, PA; his two children: Philip Lee Knight and his wife Lisa of Alexandria, VA, Erin Knight and her husband Gregory McKee of Washington, D.C.; his parents: Bobbie Lee Knight and Mildred Marie (Lotts) Knight; his two grandchildren: Tyler and Emily; his two siblings: Jerry Thomas Knight and Virginia Luke; and several nieces and nephews.
Perry attended the Virginia Military Institute, graduating in 1982 as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army. His military career spanned over 27 years, taking he and the family to numerous places across the U.S., the Netherlands, and Germany. After retiring as a colonel, Perry continued working for the military in the Department of Defense as the Deputy Commander and member of Senior Executive Service (SES).
Perry was a master gardener, hiker, and loved anything pirate-related. He had a passion for history and loved collecting military antiques. Full of endless energy, he always jumped at the opportunity to help others and he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
All are welcome to join Perry’s family at his viewing on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Private interment will be at the family’s convenience.
