Perry L. Ohrtman

Perry Lynn Ohrtman, 72, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2025 in Alliance, Ne. He was born on August 30, 1952 in Estherville, IA to William and Charlotte (Hupp) Ohrtman. On February 20, 2004 he married Mary M. Green in Deadwood, SD. Perry enlisted in the Army September 1970 and was honorable discharged August 1972, he than started his railroad career in Rock Island than became an engineer at BNSF until he retired. Perry enjoyed watching all Iowa sports, his Thursday evenings with his buddies, and his grandchildren were his highlight of his day. His survivors include his wife, Mary of 21 years, their daughters and son-in- law Meg and Scott Craig and Rashl Bunnell of Alliance, his grandchildren Jasmine DuBray of Yankton, SD, Brandon and Sami Gange of Alliance, Benita DuBray of Yankton, SD, Becca Stone of Omaha, Ne, Ryan Craig, Marisa Craig, Gage Franklin all of Alliance and 8 great grandchildren. Perry is also survived by his sisters Carol, Nancy, brother-in-law Jim, special nephew Aaron that was like a son to him his wife Natya their family, nephews Jake, Josh and their families. He proceeded in death by his parents William and Charlotte, father-in-law Pat, mother-in-law Mary Helen, brother Mike, brother-in-law Norm, nephew Taylor. A small military service for family and friends will be on Wednesday, July 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis, SD. A celebration of life will be on Saturday, August 16th 11a-2p at Bowl Mor Lanes & Lounge.
