Perry Phillips

While at Nix Elementary School with one teacher doing two grades, I shared my First grade with Perry Lloyd in Second grade, my Third grade with Perry Lloyd in Fourth grade, and my Fifth grade with Perry Lloyd in Sixth grade. We went on to the newly built Carbon Hill Jr. High School with Principal Mr. Stovall and Carbon Hill High School with Principal Mr. Davis. And we always rode the school bus to and from each of these school. At some point Perry Lloyd ended up being listed as a classmate of mine with the Class of 1971 where I graduated Class Valedictorian. Thus, in those 12 years of school, we shared many adventures and numerous whacko events.
Fifty years later, in 2021 during COVID, while planning our Class Reunion, I was assisting in sending out our Class invitation and Perry Lloyd was invited but never responded.
After he married Patsey GRACE, his family became neighbors and was especially kind to my mother Opal WATTS McGough and to my brother Dan. Perry always shared his son Matthew with Dan and Dan loved Matthew as if he was his own.
