Perry Thomas Williams, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Kirksville, Missouri, at the age of 98. Born on November 5, 1926, in Novinger, Missouri, Perry's life was a testament to dedication, service, and unwavering love for his family.

Perry's journey began with his education at Novinger High School, where he graduated in 1944. Shortly after, he enlisted in the Navy in November 1944, proudly serving as a second-class motor machinist during World War II until his discharge in July 1950. Perry's commitment to his country was matched only by his commitment to his loved ones, and he carried the values instilled in him throughout his life.

In July 1947, Perry embarked on a fulfilling career at Mart Drug Store, where he worked diligently for 35 years, ultimately becoming manager and vice president of the corporation until its closing. His professional journey continued at Carter Memorial, leading him to Davis Playle Funeral Home in 1986, where he took pride in becoming a licensed funeral director after passing the state board. Perry's work was not just a job; it was a calling that demonstrated his compassion and dedication to serving families during their most difficult times.

Perry’s personality was vibrant and spirited; he was opinionated, and those around him always knew where he stood. However, beneath that strong exterior lay a fiercely loving husband, father, and friend. He cherished the moments spent with his family, working tirelessly to create a comfortable and fulfilling life for his wife and children. Perry was married to the love of his life for 78 wonderful years, a partnership that exemplified devotion and companionship.

He is survived by his son, Steven (Barbara) Williams; his daughter, Connie (Jim) Twaddle; his grandchildren, Blair (Jessica) Twaddle, Beau (fiancé Rachel) Twaddle, Brett Williams, and Brandon Williams; as well as his great-grandchildren, Madison, Bryce, and Gavin Twaddle. Their lives have been enriched by Perry's warmth, wisdom, and unyielding support.

Perry was preceded in death by the love of his life Evelyn who was his wife of 78 years, his parents, and brothers Donald and Herbert Williams.

Perry was deeply involved in his community, being a member of the Methodist Church and a charter member of the Kirksville Moose Lodge 105. He was proud to be the last living lifetime member of this organization, helping to establish it in the local area. Additionally, his contributions received recognition when the Adair County Historical Society featured a story on his life and military service, a testament to the impact he left on those around him. Notably, Perry also received a Quilt of Valor, honoring his military service and dedication. Perry was also a member of Moila Temple and El Kadir Shrine Club.

A spirit of adventure thrived within him, especially when traveling with his beloved wife. Together, they spent several winters in Texas and explored various corners of the globe. Many of their travels were connected to Perry’s work at drug conventions, but they cherished personal trips as well where they visited their grand children and great children, creating countless memories along the way

As we celebrate the remarkable life of Perry Thomas Williams, let us remember a man whose legacy is defined by love, hard work, and an unwavering devotion to family and friends. His impact on the lives he touched will remain forever in their hearts, as they honor his memory with the love and kindness he so freely gave. A Celebration of Life will take place on October 10, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Playle-Rimer-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Kirksville, Missouri. Memorials may be left to Kirksville First United Methodist Church.
