Peter "Pete" Byker, 52, of Crystal Lake, IL passed away on December 28, 2021. He was born on September 3, 1969 to Chere and Stuart Byker. Peter was the father of Kelly, Julia, and Brett Byker.
Pete was passionate about making the most of his life. He had the warmest smile and a contagious laugh that he carried with him everywhere he went. He worked as an elevator mechanic for many years, while also owning various businesses such as a bass fishing tournament circuit (Big Bucks Bass), an elevator company (Elevator Works), an internet retail service (Nuclear Sales) and a flower shop (Little Leaf). Pete embodied the American dream. He worked hard and was successful in all entrepreneurial endeavors but always made sure he had time to relax, especially in his favorite place, the US Virgin Islands. He loved playing hockey, fishing, blasting rock and blues, and bringing doughnuts wherever he went to the colleagues, friends, and family he loved. Above all, he loved being a dad to his three children and an uncle to his 12 nieces and nephews.
He touched the lives of so many and will be missed by all who knew him. Sail away Dad, Son, Brother, Uncle, Friend… we'll meet you out at sea.
Pete is survived by his children, Kelly, Julia, and Brett Byker; parents, Chere and Stuart Byker; brother, Jeff (Marie) Byker and Dave (Gail) Byker; sisters, Bethanny (Tom) Fitzgibbons and Amy (Manny) Garcia; nieces and nephews, Lucas, Mariana, Michael and Joey Byker, Shannon, Emily, and Michelle Byker, Kiah and Drew VandenBrink, Bella, Lea, and Nina Garcia.
A celebration of life will be held at the Davenport Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 11 am-2 pm with a memorial skate at the Crystal Lake Ice House from 2-4 pm.
