Obituary of Peter P. Caronna, Jr.

Peter P. Caronna, Jr., 74, of Howell, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at home, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Peter worked for over 36 years as a clerk for the United States Postal Service, beginning in Brooklyn and later in Freehold, New Jersey until his retirement in 2011. His days as a clerk in both locations allowed Peter to share his sense of humor, curiosity, and positive energy to everyone he met. Peter loved photography, music, chess, motor sports, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 43 years, Mary Ellen Caronna; his three children: sons Jason Caronna (Brenda) of Jackson, NJ; Christopher Caronna (Laura Beth McCreesh) of Churchville, PA; daughter Tara Zegray (Steve) of Lawrenceville; and daughter-in-law, Amanda Koehler Caronna, and his granddaughter, Natalie Caronna.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM Funeral Mass on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1 Phalanx Road, Colts Neck. Interment will be private.
