My childhood teacher, and friend is gone to be with his Lord. He made everyone around him feel like they were accepted, they mattered, that he was interested in what they had to say. He was a humble, kind servant of the Lord. 'Mr. Cheaney' was my band director at Rockport Fulton HS, and he helped all of us get through those difficult teenage years. He listened to our stories, helped us improve our music, he encouraged us, and was a good teacher. I first met Mr. Cheaney and his wife Jackie, Marty and Marcie when they moved into a place up the street from me in Fulton. I met them, and was amazed by this man with the deep deep voice, and his wife who was so nice to me. He loved to play trombone, and had a wonderful musical talent for instruments, and his voice was so amazing, he could sing!! I have wonderful memories of Peter and Jackie Cheaney. Thank you Lord for blessing us with your humble servant.
