Peter loved hiking on Heart Butte. Mandan first nation creation story is that when God was done creating the world and their people, the remaining earth was Heart Butte. We always revered and respected First Nation culture and customs. The spirit is there if you slow down and open your heart and mind...

Peter and I rode in the back seat while pheasant and partridge hunting with our Dads east of Bismarck. Charles smoked a cigar and we had candy bars. We were 4 or 5 years old and they shot some birds for dinner. We were thrilled to have the pheasant tail feathers to play with.
