Peter Augustus Cosentino
October 9, 1946 – November 15, 2025
Peter A. Cosentino, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born on October 9, 1946 in Dover, he proudly served his country in Vietnam, carrying with him throughout his life a deep sense of patriotism and gratitude for the nation he loved. Yet his truest joys were found at home - around a kitchen full of simmering pots, in the garden he cultivated with great pride, and among the family, friends, and neighbors he loved to bring together.
He inherited his mother Ada's passion for Italian cooking and became an exceptional cook himself. His door was always open, and anyone who visited left well-fed and welcomed. Much of what he cooked was made with fresh produce from his large backyard garden, one of his greatest accomplishments. He also organized the Linwood Avenue block parties for many years, creating a tradition of laughter and togetherness that became a hallmark of the neighborhood.
He met the love of his life, Cynthia "Cindy" Cosentino (née Myer), at Rockaway Lanes, where she worked part-time as a cocktail waitress. Their 40 years of marriage were filled with devotion, humor, and shared passions - especially bowling. Together, they bowled in leagues especially in retirement, spending their Tuesday afternoons at the alley, followed by meals with the friends who became family.
He was an avid fisherman and a lifelong Yankees fan. Some of his happiest days were spent at Yankee Stadium cheering beside his greatest pride, his son. In 2024, he reached one of the most meaningful milestones of his life: becoming a grandfather. Welcoming his grandson, Peter Alfred, brought him immeasurable joy and completed a life lived fully and well.
He is survived by his loving wife Cindy; his son Peter M. Cosentino and daughter-in-law Virginia "Ginny" Cosentino (née Odierno), of Falls Church, VA; his grandson Peter Alfred Cosentino; his brother John "Nino" Cosentino and wife Carolee, of Wharton; his sisters Teresa Campo and husband Ralph, of Walnut Creek, California; and Juanita Lally and husband Bill, of Daytona, Florida; his brother-in-law Jon Philhower; his father-in-law Robert Myer; his godchildren Cheryl Koenig and Frank Chaparro; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is predeceased by his father John Anthony Cosentino; his mother Ada Cosentino (née Salvucci); and his sister Paula Philhower.
He will be remembered for his generosity, his humor, his cooking, his love of family, and his gift for bringing people together. His legacy lives on in the traditions he shared, the memories he helped create, and the many lives he touched.
A viewing will be held at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph, on Wednesday 11/19/2025 from 6-8PM; Funeral Mass to be held on Thursday 11/20/2025 at Sacred Heart Church, Dover at 10AM, with burial to follow.
