I met Peter at a dinner party over my wife's parents house. He was with two other novitiates. This was back in 1979, we had a good time and must have known each other from past lives, because we stayed in touch until Pete's passing. I even stayed with Peter a few times in St. Louis when I showed him how to pick up girls for the fun of it. He was so cute the gals didnt really pay much attention to me. Peter had that Smile and soft voice. My cousin's husband was born on the same date and year but in Dayton. Give me a call for more stories. Joe McLaughlin 937-278-4651

Just finished my screenplay on the Wright Brothers, which Peter read partially and loved it. I have a student in Nairobi, Shantiviah graduated from high school and is looking forward to becoming a teacher. I have supported her and gifts to her family for over ten years. Peter and I smoked cigars together, drank good craft beers, even showed him how to meet ladies. What a smile and laugh, he killed them with his cuteness. He so confused people at times they couldnt take their eyes off of what he was doing or talking about. They knew that he was just genuine, boots on the ground warmth. I have so many memories of Peter, told him once at Bergamo to get new shoes with good arches, then another time at Dominics Rest. in Dayton I wouldnt let him get up until he ate another plate full of pasta. When he was in his first year in Africa, the old missionaries told him he better smile and laugh or he wasnt going to last long. I met Peter in 1979 at a dinner party and we clicked like old friends, he would say I was his Barnabas to his St. Paul. I had it all set up for him to live in my house and travel to Bergamo (UD) to raise funds for Africa, who would say no to a man with 42 years, boots on the ground, experience and the voice of a child angel. God, the stories I can tell... Ci vediamo, ora puoi riabbracciare la mamma, Barnabas (Joe Blow from Kokomo)

I am sad to hear of Peter pass away. I met Peter in Nairobi, Kenya. He was a Marianist brother with a great heart and compassion. He had great hair and a beautiful smile. I will keep his family in my thoughts and prayers
May he rest in peace

I lived with Brother Peter D. SM in South B Community, in Nairobi for 5 years. He was a prolife champion and fighter against social and economic injustice. I will miss Peter. I had asked about him, 2 weeks ago. R.I. P. You worked for the poor founder of Chaminade, Marian Projects. Life well lived.

Please accept my condolences. Peter and I discussed his returning to Africa and to the brotherhood. He did what he was called to do. May the African sun and heat be with him in heaven.

The first time I met Peter, I was a young teenager in the early 70´s. Peter had organized a "starve-a-thon" for teens at St. Ambrose school in Endicott to raise money for the poor. We had sponsors who paid so much per hour that we went without food. It was only a 24 hour event, but Peter spent a great deal of the time praying with us and teaching us as our young bellies whined to have great sympathy for the hungry poor. He was a great influence on us and his heart for the poor began at such a young age!
May Peter bless us and pray for our area and for us to ever increase our love for the poor.

I am very sorry for your loss. Your brother, as you all know was a Saint. He inspired many people to have genuine, true compassion, empathy, and love for the poor of the world. I was only able to speak with him a few times but heard him speak a number of times. When he spoke, he was inspirational and seemed to be truly filled with the Holy Spirit. May Our Lady, and the Trinity be with you all and your families.
