Peter Eugene "Gene" Devaney

Peter Eugene "Gene" Devaney, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, at Bayshore Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was 73 years old.
Born on September 27, 1952, in Red Bank, New Jersey, Gene was the son of Margaret and Peter (Gene) Devaney.
Gene spent most of his life in New Jersey, calling Middletown and Holmdel home for many years. He also lived in Palm Harbor, Florida, for a part of his life.
Gene lived a life rich in friendships and experiences. A lifelong New York Giants fan, he carried a deep pride in his Irish heritage. He loved Irish music and music of all kinds, was a devoted movie buff, and had a remarkable gift for trivia-rarely missing a night of Jeopardy! His sharp wit, big heart, and sense of humor shone through in both good times and hard ones. Above all, Gene loved fiercely; his family and friends always knew they could count on him, whether for a laugh, a story, or the shirt off his back.
He is survived by his children, Eugene Devaney and his wife Courtney, and Christopher Devaney and his wife Jessica; by his siblings, Michael Devaney (Kate), Kevin Devaney (Jacqueline), Bridget Corsentino (Joe), and Jim Devaney; and by his grandchildren, Logan and Levi. He is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Peter Devaney.
A memorial service will be held on November 23, 2025, at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
