Peter John Dishaw, 60, of Crystal Falls passed away at his home on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Pete was born in Iron Mountain, MI, on April 6, 1965, to Neil and Patricia (Zavada) Dishaw. A Forest Park High School graduate, Pete went on to study at Northern Michigan University. After working for many years at the Champion paper mill in Quinnesec, MI, he went back to school and earned a master's degree in business education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. In 1993 Pete married Maria Caramella from White Pine, MI, and together they had one son, Nicholas Dishaw.
Pete was a very talented musician. He studied guitar under "Banjo Pete" in Iron River, MI, and for his high school graduation present, he was gifted a Les Paul guitar from his parents, which he played throughout his life. From his first band "Gold", formed by members of the Mansfield Mini-Mights 4-H club, to his final band "Old Skool", Pete's guitar skills entertained the crowds he played for. He also enjoyed basketball, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Neil Dishaw; a special uncle, Bradley Dishaw; a father-in-law, Mario Caramella; a mother-in-law, Patricia Caramella; and his childhood friend, Robert Kuzak.
Pete is survived by his son, Nicholas (Adalia Paggoa) Dishaw; mother, Patricia Dishaw; ex-wife, Maria Caramella; a sister-in-law, Nicole Caramella; 3 sisters, Shirley (Randy) Dishaw-Beck, Sharon (Mark) Nickels, and Kathy (Gordon) Springberg; 2 brothers, Mike (Tina) Dishaw and Joe (Kim) Dishaw; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank those who cared for Pete during the course of his illness: MMC Dickinson Radiology staff, OSF Hospice, especially Lori and Ashley, Nicole Caramella and Shawn Barnes.
Visitation will be held at the Nash Funeral Home, 104 N. Third St. in Crystal Falls, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025. A private burial will take place following the visitation.
Condolences may be expressed to the family of Peter Dishaw online at www.nashfuneralhome.net.
The family has entrusted the Nash Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Crystal Falls with the arrangements.
