Peter "Pete" Fessenden 93, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025. He was born in North Adams, MA, to the late C. Arthur Fessenden and Charlotte (Waterhouse)Fessenden. Pete attended Technical High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Western New England University. Before his retirement in 1997, he worked for Springfield Wire Inc. for 40 years, holding the positions of CEO and Chairman of the Board. He held numerous international patents on appliance, automotive, and air conditioning components, significantly contributing to the industry. Pete was a founding member of the Norcross Center, an historical research center in East Longmeadow. He was a devoted member of the former St. Paul Lutheran Church in East Longmeadow. Pete loved painting, creative writing, singing, and music. He was passionate about sports, coaching many of his son's leagues, and was treasurer of the Greater Springfield Hockey League. Pete's wife, Sheryl (Burlingham) Fessenden, his sister, Carol Morse of Chelmsford, MA. , and his fiancée Sara Orr of Longmeadow, MA, predeceased him. He is survived by his loving son, Peter Fessenden Il, and his wife, Peri-Ann of East Longmeadow; his cherished grandchildren, Matthew Fessenden and his wife, Noelani, and Dana Gerfin and her husband, Dillon; a niece, Carol-Anne Taddeo, and her husband, Art; a nephew, Howard Morse, and his wife, Carrie; and many good friends. Pete will be deeply missed by all who knew him and will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and dedication. A memorial service will be held on Friday July 18,2025 , 11:00AM at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main St. East Longmeadow. The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00AM-11:00AM. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker St., Springfield. Peter and family:
So sorry for your loss. Your dad, Pete, was a caring Christian gentleman, who together with your Mom, Sheryl, were wonderful family friends to my parent, me and my family Eric and Jill Hastings. Pete was generous with his time and resources, especially as it pertained to the care of my Mom, in her later years. Peace to all.
