Peter French Obituary

Peter "Chip" French, 25, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025, in Durham, North Carolina. Born on March 12th, 2000, in Pune, India, Peter lived a life where he never met a stranger. Always recognizable in cowboy boots and a hat, Peter loved camping, hunting, being outdoors in nature, and riding his motorcycle.
Peter graduated from Riverside High School in 2018 and was dual-enrolled at Durham Technical College for the last 3 semesters of his high school career. After many years of involvement with the Boy Scouts of America, Peter achieved the highest honor of becoming an Eagle Scout in 2018.
An experienced mixologist and mechanic, Peter followed his passions wholeheartedly. As Peter's close friends can attest, he was unwaveringly loyal and deeply independent.
Peter was a well-loved bartender at Hope Valley Country Club in Durham, NC. He also attended Durham Technical College in the Automotive Systems Technology program.
Peter is survived by his parents, Price French of Durham, NC, and Jill French (Scott Mollenkopf) of Greensboro, NC, siblings, Hansen French (Maggie and daughter Katie) of Charlotte, NC, Grace French Skeen (Derek) of Durham, NC, and Jyoti French of Durham, NC, grandmothers, Marion French of Lakeland, FL, and Marjorie Pringnitz of Britt, IA.
A celebration of Peter's life will be held at Hope Valley Country Club (3803 Dover Rd, Durham, NC, 27707) on June 5th, 2025, from 5-7pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in honor of Peter's life to Boy Scouts of America (Give-Scouting America) or Camp Raven Knob (Give - Scouting America).
