Peter Mallette Green, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, in
Chattanooga, Tennessee, at the age of 88. Born on September 30, 1937, in Falls Church, Virginia, to the late Joseph Hugh and Leonora Combs Green, Peter's life was marked by dedication, service, and a profound love for his family.
Peter's journey through life was one of continuous learning and achievement. He proudly earned a Bachelor of Science degree, which laid the foundation for his successful career. His commitment to his country was evident through his honorable service in the United States Coast Guard, where he not only protected the nation's shores but also developed a strong sense of discipline and community that he carried with him throughout his life.
Following his military service, Peter embarked on a career in the financial field. Peter's professional life was characterized by integrity, a strong work ethic, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. He loved to garden and was an amateur historian of WWII.
At home, Peter was a loving and devoted husband to Mary Matthias Green. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and love. He was a guiding light and a source of strength for his children, Matthew Green, Lora Timonin, Elizabeth Ann Russ, and Susan Kildahl. Peter's wisdom, and kindness, were the cornerstones of the family, and his legacy will live on through them.
Peter's role as a grandfather was one he cherished. His five grandchildren were the recipients of his boundless affection and the stories of his life's adventures. He instilled in them the values of honesty, respect, and the importance of family.
He is also survived by his sister, Meredith Martin-Young.
Per Peter's request there will be no funeral service. He will be placed at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
