Peter Kirch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc. - Lowville on Dec. 27, 2025.
LOWVILLE- It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Peter D. Kirch, 62, of Number Four Road. He passed away on December 24, 2025 at Lewis County General Hospital.

Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Bethany; three children, Derek N. Kirch; AnnaJane (Eric) Bates; Maryam (Micah) Kelly; three cherished grandchildren, Mackenzie Kirch, Virginia Bates and Ezra Bates; his mother, Frances LaVancha; six siblings, Francine (James) Bush; Eileen (James) Fitzgerald; Holly (Thomas) Farney; Susan Weaver (Companion Mike Matuszczak); Kevin (Marcia) Kirch; Kirk (Diane) Kirch; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Neil H. Kirch.

Peter was born on February 8, 1963 in Utica, NY, a son of Neil H. and Frances Ferrance Kirch. He attended Father Leo Memorial School in Croghan and Graduated from Beaver River Central School in the Class of 1981. On September 24, 1988, he married Bethany A. Spencer at the West Martinsburg United Methodist Church. Peter worked for International Union of Operating Engineers Local #158, Cicero, as a crane operator. He had been a crane operator for more than 40 years. He was well respected by his co-workers for being a great crane operator, who was safe, and was a perfectionist in all areas of his work. Pete enjoyed mentoring new crane operators and some of his younger co-workers said they were working with a legend. He will be greatly missed.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and liked ping pong, along with badminton and pickleball. Pete enjoyed swimming and teaching his grandchildren how to swim. He liked to fish at local fishing spots. Peter liked to go to Soft Maple, and go on Jeep rides with Beth. He enjoyed playing euchre with his family and playing with his dog, Mabel. Peter especially enjoyed road trips with Beth antiquing. He was not afraid to tell his loved ones how proud he was of them.

You knew Pete liked you, if he was picking on you.

Informal calling hours are from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 30, 2025 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville with the funeral following at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held privately in the spring.
