Peter Medley Jr. Peter Edward Medley Jr, 50, a long-time resident of Annapolis, previously of Youngwood, Pa. died July 8 of an overwhelming infection. Born March 22, 1954 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Peter Edward Medley Sr. and Ann Louise Ippolito Medley. Peter graduated from Belle Vernon Area High School in 1972, Belle Vernon, Pa., Baltimore County Police Academy in 1986, and Computer Forensics with U.S. Secret Service. He was a U.S. Navy machinist mate E6, U.S. Army National Guard Staff Sergeant E6. He retired May 1, 2010 from the Annapolis City Police after 24 ½ years of service. He received the Medal of Honor with Annapolis City Police 1991 for saving the life of an individual who was in an electrical transformer box, Also two unit commendations and numerous letters of commendation from public and other government institutions. He was Vice President Renegade Pigs a Public Safety Officer Motorcycle Club 2005 - present, treasurer Iron Warriors a Public Safety Officer Motorcycle Club 2000 - 2005. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, camping, reading, and spending time with grandchildren He is survived by his wife, Celeste Kay Medley, who he married June 12, 1972; two sons, Craig Edward Medley and Brad Michael Medley both of Arnold; two sisters, Michelle Medley of Canton, Ga. and Stefanie Winborne of Cumming, Ga.; and four grandchildren. Pete Medley, who recently retired and spent 24 years on the force and had a knack for earning the trust of the crime victims he fought for, died suddenly early Wednesday morning, the department announced. Medley, 56, went to work for the department in February 1986 and worked a wide variety of assignments, including patrol, traffic, recruitment and criminal investigation. While a detective, he was involved in several successful murder investigations. He was able to forge close relationships with surviving family members of those, and other crimes, gaining trust and respect from those he served, and served with. Medley became an expert in forensic computer investigation and became a forensic computer examiner in 2002. Upon his retirement May 1, he was assigned to the U.S. Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force. He also took a job with Constellation Energy as an information security analyst. In 1991, Medley was awarded the Annapolis Police Department's Medal of Honor for saving the life of a person in an electrical transformer box. He also received two Unit Commendations and numerous letters of commendation from the public and other government institutions. Medley was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., March 22, 1954, and served in the U.S. Navy before joining the police department. He was an avid camper and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was also and avid Harley Davidson motorcyclist and was a member of the Renegade Pigs Motorcycle Club made up of current and former police officers. Medley is survived by his wife, Celeste, a supervisor in the Annapolis Police Department's Communications Section, his son Cpl. Craig Medley, assigned to the department's Bicycle Unit, and another son, Brad. He is also survived by his mother, Ann Medley, his father, Peter Medley Sr., sisters, Stefanie Winborne and Michelle Medley, and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his friends and colleagues at the Annapolis Police Department.
