Peter E. Mogensen, Jr. passed on to his eternal home on Monday, March 17, 2008 at Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder, Colorado. He was born in Racine on Sept. 27, 1922, to the late Emily and Peter E. Mogensen, Sr. He was a resident of Racine for many years. He was united in marriage to the former Shirley Keough on June 3, 1950 at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Racine. They later became members of Calvary Memorial Church. Shirley preceded Peter in death on June 17, 2003. He had resided in Boulder, Co., following the June 2006 marriage to his college sweetheart, Jane Fowler. Peter was Vice President and General Manager of Advance Transportation in Racine for many years, and later worked in the International Division at J.I. Case Company in Racine. He served on the Racine School Board from 1952-1958, and was president of the board in 1957. He was also president of the Racine Chapter of Delta Nu Alpha, national transportation fraternity, as well as being involved in numerous civic and social organizations. He was a graduate of Northwestern University, and studied at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He served his country with the United States Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Jane Fowler Mogensen of Boulder Colorado; his children, Molly (Richard) Treiber, Betsy Mogensen Madsen, Peter E. Mogensen III, and Peg (Ken) Sorensen; seven grandchildren; his twin sister, Elloree Mogensen Green, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Memorial Church 4001 Washington Ave., on Monday, March 24, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Nathan James officiating. Interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may meet with the family at the church on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Gideon's International or Calvary Memorial Church.
